In those days vanity was a virtue and outward display was a necessity.
In the later Middle Ages chain mail was replaced by suits of armour, which were far more expensive.
And knights became more like aristocrats.
Honour, strength, courage, loyalty, generosity, honesty…
The knight’s code of honour – also known as the chivalric code – was a mix of military, noble and Christian elements.
Knights had to keep their bodies in good condition. They had to act in accordance with the conventions of the chivalric code, and they had to protect the weak, the elderly and the fairer sex.
Their ultimate goal was to set off on a Crusade.
Our ancestors went to war to fight for their freedom and ours. It was their blood and their sacrifices that cleared the way for us.
Today our ancestors live on through their legacy and in us.
The legacy of the knights has been taken up by explorers, fortune hunters and other adventurers.
