This August we’re putting musician and entrepreneur Akwasi (28) in the spotlight. In Prepare for Glory, he talks about his career, his clothing style and his goals in life. He is not short of ambition and aims to achieve international recognition. He has the spirit of a 21st century hero: masculine and individualistic, with an ambitious path to follow.
At a young age he was already on the road to success. At the same time as being accepted to drama school, he also received his first recording contract. Akwasi grabbed these opportunities with both hands, but decided that after graduating he would pursue his main passion: making music. In order to make his own mark he launched his debut album not on behalf of his then record company and management Topnotch but under his own record label: Neerlands Dope. Akwasi's quest for identity encourages him to take this type of risk and to develop further.
To reinforce his identity, Akwasi is always meticulous about his appearance. He wants to look good at any occasion. After all, the clothes make the man. He feels best in jeans and shirt combined with trainers or biker boots.
Akwasi is determined when it comes to the future. In ten years’ time he will be touring all over the world, producing television programmes and inventing successful formats. He wants everything he makes to be sold worldwide. Proactivity and entrepreneurship are in his DNA.
“I want to become a Dutch export product,
more famous than Appelsientje.”
If we talk about aiming high, thinking in possibilities and showing guts then Akwasi fits the bill entirely. His ambitious yet likable appearance ensures that he can achieve a lot and that people welcome him with open arms. We gladly offer Akwasi centre stage in the Prepare for Glory column. Here’s to a bright future!
