Our second aspiring hero of the 21st Century is presenter, actor and producer Tim Senders. Known from the program Streetlab, which he creates, produces and directs together with a group of friends. We have chosen Tim because of his entrepreneurial and adventurous identity. Besides the program, Tim has his own production company and works on several projects he likes, varying from producing brand movies to acting by himself. We think an entrepreneurial and creative identity is a valuable key to success and worth sharing his inspiring story in the Prepare for Glory column.
After finishing acting school, Tim started his career with several roles in local theater productions. A partnership with friends from school resulted in the collective called ‘Klapstoel’ and let him focus to expand this partnership. In the beginning they made humoristic videos about boring things from everyday life and offered fun alternatives. This developed into the TV program “Streetlab” and is broadcasted on Dutch television in which they test human behavior by humoristic social experiments. The group challenges each other, are critical and set the bar high. Ambition, creativity and pushing the limits are their important shared values.
Tim is a hard worker and does not fear taking risks. The uncertain world of television attracts him because of the irregular timetable, diversity and ongoing pressure. “I think it’s hard to stay focused by doing the same things every day in and out. I love to work on several projects. Too much certainty is not for me, because I will lose the feeling of pressure”. His work is quite personal and accepting criticism is not always easy, but necessary to stay one step ahead.
“Too much certainty is not for me, because I will lose the feeling of pressure”
RHe takes criticism more serious than compliments. Because appearance is an important value in the television world Tim wants to feel confident in the way he looks. Although Streetlab is a program of pushing the limits in a funny an unique way, his clothing and style are part of his identity and help him to #prepareforglory.
