Klaas van Kruistum was primarily well-known among young people for presenting Zapplive, but it was his participation in the programme Wie is de Mol? that really turned him into a household name. That was exactly his intention. His biggest dream is to present a prime-time programme on television. “The possibilities are there. It takes time and a bit of luck, but it will always be my big dream. I'm not there yet, but I'm well on my way.”
Klaas is great at doing live television. His timing is good and he excels at improvising. This is an important combination. He has now completed around 100 hours of live television and is really getting the hang of it. He is currently presenting Zapplive, which he loves doing. Klaas would like to do an adult version of this programme in the future. He’s a hard worker and isn’t afraid of takings risks:"I make calculated assessments, but at the end of the day I follow my heart. I don't think about the risks, I just go for it wholeheartedly. Working hard is just the beginning, then I see where it takes me. You will get me at my best when I can have fun while doing something serious. I need both aspects to get the very best out of myself."
Klaas likes being in the picture and looking at his finest. “When I’m shooting a programme, I always take a toiletry bag with me and do my hair just before we start.” He has a preference for casual clothing and likes colours and prints. When he’s on holiday, it’s not important to him at all; doesn’t shave and he can walk around in the same clothes for a week.
If we are talking about setting the bar high, thinking in terms of opportunities and showing courage, then we are talking about Klaas. His friendly and proactive personality makes him popular with everyone, and that in turn no doubt opens many a door.
“I don’t think about the risks,
I just go for it wholeheartedly.”
